Prince Harry’s non-deployment to Iraq

Prince Harry wanted to lead troops in Iraq. Today, his request was turned down for military strategic reasons. Here is a good interview that Harry gave on his twenty-first birthday, where he said:

“There’s no way I’m going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.

“That may sound very patriotic, but it’s true. It’s not the way anyone should really work.”

I agree. There is a long historic precedent of future kings (Harry is third in line to the throne, after his father Charles, and his brother William) going to war – and would prepare him to be king much more than being a party animal and hosting such parties as the Concert for Diana.

So we offer Prince Harry our condolences in what is a great disappointment for him.
