John Edwards on Ending Poverty

Here is a link on how John Edwards proposes to end poverty in thirty years. He is the only candidate that comes up when I google “ending poverty”.

Some of his ideas:

  • Creating a working society by increasing the minimum wage to 9.50 an hour by 2012
  • Creating one million tempory “stepping stone” jobs
  • Help rural communities with the largest unemployment improve their community colleges
  • Housing vouchers to enable the poor to move to richer neighborhoods
  • Fight abusive lending practices by banning the most abusive payday loan programs, limiting irresponsible credit card lending practices, and defending homeowners against predatory mortgages and foreclosures
