Execute Art, Not People in Philadelphia on Good Friday

“”EXECUTE ART, NOT PEOPLE”” is a unique way to remember the death of Jesus on the cross at the hands of his government. BSM will gather Philadelphia to hear from two former death row inmates, Shujaa Graham and Darby Tillis who were exonerated by DNA evidence, will be speaking about their personal stories and reflections on the penal system/death penalty. There will be music, art, conversation, and ways to get involved in this issue that makes our society more brutal and less just.
The event is a collaboration of Pennsylvanians Against the Death Penalty (PADP), Broadstreet Ministry (BSM), and Witness to Innocence (WTI).
We want different artists to showcase their vision for a different society, a different world, beginning in Philadelphia.

Larissa Kelly to play in Jeopardy Finals

update: the evil King George III of England prevents Larissa from winning the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions, fulfilling what has never been fully understood before in the Declaration of Independence:

The only fact that Larissa did not know was that baby George had been born in Germany – the last British monarch not to have been born on the British Isles.  Dan did know this, so he wins in Final Jeopardy the $250,000. Larissa wins $100,000, the reward for second place, and Aaron comes in third. Alex Trebeck said it was the best Finals ever. Long live President Arthur and down with King George III!

 

Larrisa Kelly is in the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions Finals on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24, 2009.  The winner takes home $250,000. She holds the record for most money won in a week of regular play – $179,797, which broke the record formerly set by Ken Jennings.

Here are some of the Final Jeopardy’s she got and nobody else did:

One of the contestants said Israel and Jordan! The correct answer that Larissa got was India and Pakistan. The migration to and from Israel in the late 1940s was about 800,000 to Israel and 800,000 from Israel – a lot fewer than in India and Pakistan.

Frank Schaeffer, son of evangelical leaders Francis and Edith Schaeffer, rants against Rush and the Republicans

As the father of a Marine who served in George W. Bush’s misbegotten wars let me say this: if President Obama’s strategy to repair our economy, infrastructure and healthcare fails that will put our troops at far greater risk because the world will become a far more dangerous place. So for all you flag-waving Republicans who are trying to undermine the President at home — if you succeed more of our troops will be killed abroad.

When your new leader Rush Limbaugh calls for President Obama to fail he’s calling for more flag-draped coffins. Limbaugh is the new “Hanoi Jane.”

For the party that created our crises of misbegotten war, mismanaged economy, the lack of regulation of our banking industry, handing our country to rich crooks… to obstruct the one person who is trying to repair the damage is obscene.

Just imagine where America would be today if the 14 to 20 million voters — “the rube base” who slavishly follow the likes of Limbaugh — had not voted as a block year after year thus empowering the Republican fiasco. We would have a regulated banking industry and would have avoided our current financial crisis; some 4000 of our killed military men and women would be alive; over to 35,000 wounded Americans would be whole; we would have been leaders in the environmental movement; we would be in the middle of a green technology boom fueling a huge expansion of our economy and stopping our dependence on foreign oil, and our health-care system would be reformed.

ICC issues a warrant of arrest for Omar Al Bashir, President of Sudan

UPDATE: Sudan is asking  foreign aid agencies such as Save the Children UK, which is helping 50,000 needy children, OXFAM, CARE,  IRC, Mercy Corps, MSF, PeaceKeepers, as a response to the arrest warrant by the ICC.
